Welcome!
In this book I share the conversations I enjoyed along the 10,000 km of the Caminho de Peabiru, starting from my native Ireland and moving through South America. I had conversations with the Guaraní and with juruá/non-indigenous researchers and I read their publications. I am especially grateful to Rosana Bond, whose books formed the basis for my itinerary and a lot of its content. I also had conversations with walking guides and different types of shamans, with my family and friends, with my social conditioning and mySelf, with God, with Satay and with Nhandecy, mother nature. Thank you to all who walked with me, especially my co-pilgrims — my parents, Liam and Nora, my sons Tom, Liam and Eoin and my sons’ fathers, Alastair and Tahmid and my friend Maria. As you read this book, you too join this conversation.
Welcome! Many thanks to Marli for her encouragement, graphic support and editorial production.
A big thanks also to Izzah, Adriano and Lu for help with the Portuguese translation and revision. I have made changes along the way, so any errors are my own.
About the author
Bébhinn Ramsay
I’m an Irish pilgrim and writer – I currently live between Ireland and Brazil. I have a lot of love for my indigenous culture and language and a lot of curiosity about others.
I am grateful to the original peoples and all the current people of Brazil/Pindorama for welcoming me and my family.
I have the privilege of being the custodian of Wild Eala, a regenerative and rewilding initiative in Wicklow, a retreat space on airbnb called Morpho Azul and a small synthropic agriculture experiment called Leela.
